Upstairs Bath Remodel
The home is a 1916 Craftsman-style that received an extensive interior remodel in 1998. The upstairs bath was obviously designed as a kids’ bath, where the materials and finishes were simple and inexpensive. The new owners wanted something that felt more like a master bath without having to completely tear out the existing layout.
We were able to open up the entire space without changing the existing footprint by eliminating the upper wall between the vanity and bath. Additionally, a modern simple glass door was installed to replace the traditional claustrophobic shower curtain. A high-end, dual-headed shower fixture adds a strong sense of luxury.
Warm Italian ceramic tile was installed as the tub surround with a horizontal stripe of rustic stone. A dark vinyl floor was installed to really ground and warm. A large clean-lined mirror and matching sconces were brought in to add a modern touch. A lively sage color on the walls and bamboo floor mats are the final touches.
